Change Audio Sync With VLC Media Player

with 18 comments

You download a movie and the audio is out of sync with what you see. That is something you can easily fix with VLC.

If you need to adjust your audio because you hear things before you see them press Ctrl L. You need to do this while playing so you can see how much you need to adjust it. It slows it at 50ms at a time.

To speed it up press Ctrl K which will increase at 50ms a time.

  2. Yes it is true. But it is still more simpler to use in Mplayer isn’t it?

  5. This is not correct, least with the version I have. (9.4)

Tools/Preferences/Hot Keys gives a full list of short cuts. The defaults to advance and slow audio relative to video are j and k respectively. Works well btw.

  8. And G and H work for me. I suppose in the future, others will just have to start pushing buttons to find the one that works for them.

  11. VLC SUX! i am running version 9.9 and audio sync is a joke!
the hot keys dont work and trying manually just fucks it up

anybody who says vlc is worth anything should go shoot themselves and just pick up and learn adobe aftereffects which will fix any video problems correctly.

    • VLC works great, I had a problem with the audio sync and it took me some time but i fixed it perfectly, i just had to learn how to do it, you can set your hot keys to whatever you want, if you fucked it up you were obviously doing it wrong. you have every right to have your own preference concerning media players, but please spare the rest of us your useless negativity because it doesn’t help anyone, maybe YOU should go shoot YOURSELF and stop insulting other peoples opinions and preferences just because you don’t know how to do it right

  14. hmmm…. use ALT & F4 together to automatically sync the audio and video no matter which is delayed from the other.

    ;-)

The one post above mentioned the preferences menu settings though, so this hotkey discussion is really superfluous.
